The Experience Of Becoming A Family - 1638 Words
Endeavoring to become a family health nurse has been a long and rock-strewn journey. Yet, like climbing a mountain with its downfalls and peaks, I have become more astute in managing circumstances and have developed a new understanding of what a family nurse embodies. The purpose of this paper will be to illuminate the experience of becoming a family-oriented nurse and how I utilized my knowledge from Family Health course to achieve this outcome. I will deliberate on an event that summarizes my experience, what I have discovered about myself, applying themes from works of literature, and the development of future goals. I will then conclude with a brief summary of my comic manifesto. The Meaningful Experience of Practicing Family Healthâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This idea was further emphasized during an activity in week seven in which groups of students shared health-promoting practices that were based on their culture and upbringing (Appendix A). Such activity placed the complexity of relational practice into a simple picture in which one can visualize how the developed strengths and unique expertise of individuals were rooted by context. Indeed, in deterring from the attitude of the expert nurse to adopting the concept of shared expertise, I have noticed a decrease in my tendency to label families negatively, and instead, visualize their strengths and built partnerships. The integration of these discoveries into practice was reflected when the patientââ¬â¢s appetite plummeted. In his prolonged stay in the unit, I had witnessed his daughtersââ¬â¢ resilience and how they had encouraged their father in ways that others could not. I recalled asking them, ââ¬Å"What does he like to eat? Can you bring food from home? What does he normally do when he feels unwell and how has he or your family managed it?â⬠. In seeking their assistance I had hoped to develop meaningful interventions that best reflected the patientââ¬â¢s culture and life context (Doane Varcoe, 2005). Understanding A Child Needs And Child Development - 851 Words
Understanding a child needs and the way to interact with them a key knowledge to create different ways for the child to development at their appropriate age level. In the beginning of the semester, I only have some knowledge of child development. I didnââ¬â¢t know the method of teaching a child are even to speak to them. After this class and participating in programs relating to children s development, such as Jumpstart, i slowly understand the importance of ways to express and take to the children. The environment that a child grows in affects a child in a certain degree that would either be negative or positive. For example, if a child is growing in a place that lack of space and material to manipulate, then the child will have lack of that skill he or she is supposed to acquire at a certain age and that will maintain for a lifetime. On the other hand, if the child have the spacious environment to implement play meaning that child would have enough material to develop the devel opmental skills that is appropriate for his or her age. In a classroom, it is best that there is enough materials for each individual that are able to use to reach the developmental skills. Letter to the George Bush Team to Visit City Florence Free Essays
Dear Sir, It is great honor for me to be a guide for George Bush in Florence. I will do my best to ensure that he remembers Florence as the most beautiful place on Earth and realizes why this city is literally a magnet attracting tourists from the most remote areas. Every person who is fond of art needs to visit this gorgeous spot at least once in his life. We will write a custom essay sample on Letter to the George Bush Team to Visit City Florence or any similar topic only for you Order Now Florence gets visited by tourists in the millions because it offers them an astonishing variety of scenes. Even though one day of being in Florence is by no means enough to grasp the whole feeling of the city, it can still create an overwhelming delight in the personââ¬â¢s heart, and make him thirsty to see more during the following visits. It is my goal to help George Bush get immersed into Florenceââ¬â¢s atmosphere from the very first minutes of the visit. He will be able to understand why Florence is one of the worldââ¬â¢s most enjoyable cities. He will never forget this beautiful experience and keep desiring to return here many times in the future. Due to the short length of the visit, I have decided to pick out the most interesting sites for the President. We will have time to visit only three places of interest, but I can assure you that they will all tell a great deal about the history of Florence and its uniqueness. In our city, we have enough monuments to keep a tourist occupied for years, but even a day is enough to understand that there is no similar place on Earth to Florence, no matter how much you look. I want to organize this excursion in such a way that George Bush realizes why Florence is considered the cradle of Renaissance. Many people know that Florence was the Italian city which gave birth to Renaissance, but very few of them can actually explain why. In order to be able to answer this question, one needs to get acquainted with the masterpieces of Renaissance artists. They do not have any analogues in the world; they are absolutely unique. Every piece of art created during that epoch breathes with the feeling of freedom and unlimited inspiration which knows no borders. I want to show such pieces of art to George Bush so that he hears them talk to him through ages. The first place of interest which we are going to visit will be The Casa Buonarroti, the house in which outstanding artist Michelangelo lived; then we will proceeded to Romanesque baptistery which is famous for scenes from Old Testament created by Lorenzo Ghiberti on its doors; and finally we are going to visit Brancacci Chapel the frescos of which were gradually painted by Masolino, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi, the most famous Renaissance artists. All of these places are very unique, and they can tell a great deal about the Renaissance epoch. The Casa Buonarroti is going to be particularly interesting for the President because this is the place where Michelangelo lived and created his masterpieces. There can be nothing more extraordinary than starting to visit to Florence from visiting the house of the perhaps the most outstanding artist of Renaissance. Even though Michelangelo did not step in his house for many centuries, it is possible to feel his presence there many years after. The house was transformed into a museum by one of Michelangeloââ¬â¢s relatives, Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger, in 17th century. The museum not only has created work of Michelangelo, but also painting of other famous artists depicting the scenes from his life and his virtues. It is impossible to avoid visiting this museum during the visit to Florence. Romanesque baptistery is going to impress George Bush due to many reasons; first, it is one of the oldest buildings in Florence and thus tells a lot about its history; second, it would appeal to the Presidentââ¬â¢s interest in religion; third, it has scenes from Old Testament created by famous Lorenzo Ghiberti on its doors. Lorenzo Ghiberti is one of the most famous sculptors of his time. It is common truth that these days, some people would pass by this legendary building even without stop. Some young people do not appreciate these masterpieces as much as they should. However, Romanesque baptistery needs to be noticed and remembered by everybody because nothing can compare to Lorenzo Ghibertiââ¬â¢s creative work on its panels. The gates which he created into the baptistery were called ââ¬Å"gates to paradiseâ⬠by his contemporaries. One can easily tell which scenes from Bible the artist depicted. He worked most of his life on these pieces of art, and they impress tourists until these days. In the middle panel there is a scene of Jacob and Esau depicted. All of the characters of the Bible are painted in such a way as if they are alive and are almost going to jump off the panels. The last site which we are going to visit is Brancacci Chapel. It has very unique architecture and it famous for the frescos gradually painted by Masolino, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi. The history of painting frescos for this chapel is really impressive. In the beginning of 15th century a Florence ambassador to Egypt commissioned Masolino to paint the frescos for the cathedral. After completing some work, the famous artist charged his student Masaccio with this task, and Masaccio brilliantly coped with the part of the work which the master assigned to him. However, Masolino did not have a chance to finish the work entirely due to his death, therefore, the frescos remained unfinished until Filippino Lippi, another famous artist, added the last strokes to the paintings in the end of 15th century. This chapel will be particularly interesting for George Bush because it will tell him very much about the differences of styles of one of the most famous Italian painters of all times. One can easily capture slight differences between the strokes done by Masolino, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi because each of them had his own unique style. However, the frescos turned out completely extraordinary as the result of their combined work. I very much hope that the visit of George Bush to Florence turns out very enjoyable. All of the sites which I picked out for him are going to let him fall in love with Florence during one day, and look forward to going back soon. Bibliography. Art History Gardeners Art through Ages. Essay on How does Heat Transfer Works Example For Students
Essay on How does Heat Transfer Works I chose the topic of heat transfer because I find it really intriguing to learn about. I wanted to look further into how heat from two substances reacts with one another through another material that was placed between them. I will be looking at how to calculate the rate of heat transfer in a one dimensional space. This means that I will only be focusing on two temperatures, one hot and one cold, and a medium of which the heat will pass through. External factors such as other temperatures and time will not be used as they are for three dimensional spaces. Heat is a type of energy that transfers between two pieces of matter that have different temperatures. There are three ways heat can be transferred. The first way is through radiation and the second is convection. The third way is through conduction which is when an object or material conducts the heat from one substance through itself and to another. This is the method I will be focusing on. As stated in the second law of thermodynamics, heat flows from the matter or objects with the higher temperature to the one containing lower temperature and is not possible from cold to hot. This will continue until both objects have reached a thermal equilibrium. At this point, one object does not contain a higher temperature than the other, so the heat transfer ends. The rate at which the heat is transferred depends on the composition of the material that separates the two temperatures. For example, the rate at which heat flows from hot water to cold water through a copper cup will be different than if the cup is porcelain. The rate that the heat energy is transferred is directly proportionate to the rate at which the temperature changes. Also, since the lower temperature is gaining the same amount of heat that the higher temperature is losing, the graphs of these two should be negative reciprocals of each other. The higher temperature ââ¬ËAââ¬â¢ will generally have a negative slope whereas the lower temperature ââ¬ËBââ¬â¢ will have a positive slope. When both A and B have the same temperature, as mentioned before, they have reached a thermal equilibrium and therefore will have a slope of zero as neither one is gaining or losing heat. This chart represents the increase and decrease in temperature due to the loss and gain of heat. It does not represent any set data and is not a completely accurate diagram. The heat that the hot water loses is gained by the cold water. This continues until the hot water is the same temperature as the cold water. At this point, neither one is warmer nor colder than the other, so the transfer stops, resulting in a gradient of zero. To start off, I have two variables to work with. The first variable is the difference in temperature of the two objects; in this case, it is water. The second variable is the composition of the material that is separating the two different temperatures. I have considered this variable because it is directly involved with the heat transfer as the heat energy is passing from one object, through the material, and into the second object. As mentioned before, heat flows from the region with the higher temperature to the region with the lower temperature. Let G represent the rate at which the heat is transferred through conduction. This should be equivalent to the temperature gradient of dT/dx , where T(x) is the temperature and x is the distance travelled in the same direction and the heat is flowing. G=dT/dx However, with the current equation, there is no variable for the area of which the heat is transferring through. It only states that the gradient of dT/dx is the rate at which heat is transferred. It implies that the heat transfer between two substances will be the same if the area is 5cm2 and if it is 5km2. Area is another variable that affects the rate at which heat transfers. The larger the area of a medium, the more heat is transferred because there is more surface area that is conducting the heat from one substance and into another. An example of this is a large window in a building compared to a smaller one. Rooms with large windows tend to be colder because more heat has been lost from there. G=A dT/dx dT/dx is the temperature gradient in the direction which is normal to the area. This equation includes the area (A) of the surface that the heat is passing through, but it does not factor in the conductivity of the material placed between the two substances. Let the variable c represent the thermal conductivity of the material involved in the transfer. G=K A dT/dx In addition, the second law of thermodynamics states that heat energy must flow from a warmer region to a colder one. A negative sign must be placed on the right side of the above equation since the heat is being transferred in the direction of increasing x values will result in a positive quantity. .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a , .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .postImageUrl , .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a , .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:hover , .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:visited , .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:active { border:0!important; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:active , .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf1eb2ee37c20adaa25ca0e0a2cce839a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Biology: The Thermodynamics of Protein-Protein Interactions EssayConduction heat flow ÃâT/Ãâx is negative if the value of x increases while the temperature decreases G=-k A dT/dx The equation, G=-k A dT/dx , can be altered to form another equation. The area (A) is expressed in squared metres (m2). The temperature (K) is expressed in Kelvin. X is expressed in metres. The rate of heat flow is expressed in watts (W). The thermal conductivity (k) is measured as watts per metre per kelvin. Material Thermal Conductivity W/m K Copper 399 Aluminum 237 Carbon Steel, 1% C 43 Glass 0.81 Plastics 0.2-0.3 Water 0.6 Ethylene Glycol 0.26 Engine Oil 0.15 Freon (Liquid) 0.07 Hydrogen 0.18 Air 0.026 Thermal conductivity chart of different materials Thermal resistance is when a material resists the heat from flowing. The equation for thermal resistance is: R= L/Ak L stands for thickness A stands for area k stands for thermal conductivity G=ÃâT/(L/Ak) G=Ak/L(T1-T2) These equations are measured in k/W which is equivalent to à °C/W. Using these equations, I can find the thermal resistance and the rate of heat transfer through a medium. Take for example, a large aluminum slate (k = 237 W/m K) of which the dimensions are 1 metre (m) in height, 0.5 metres (m) as the width, and a 0.5 centimetre (cm) thickness (depth) where the exterior temperature is 25à °C and the interior temperature is 30à °C. Thermal resistance: R= L/Ak R= (0.005 m)/(1 m Ãâ"0.5 m Ãâ"237 W/m K) R= 4.2194Ãâ"ãâ¬â"10ãâ¬â"^(-5) k/W Rate of heat loss: G=Ak/L(T1-T2) G=((T1-T2))/R G=((30-25)à °C )/(4.2194 Ãâ"ãâ¬â"10ãâ¬â"^(-10 ) k/W) G=(5à °C)/(4.2194 Ãâ"ãâ¬â"10ãâ¬â"^(-10 ) k/W) G=118,500 W This graph shows the change is temperature as a result of heat transfer over time. One temperature starts off much warmer than the other. As the process of heat transfer commences, the hot temperature loses heat and gets cooler. At the same time, the cold temperature gains the lost heat and becomes warmer. When both have reached a thermal equilibrium, there is no more heat to transfer and both remain the same temperature. Heat transfer that takes place in a room is similar to the examples I have given, except that it occurs in three dimensional spaces. This means that other factors are required to make the equations work and come up with an appropriate answer. From these equations, other ones can be created to solve many other problems on heat transfer. Anywhere that temperature exists, there is some sort of heat transfer happening. By predicting, analysing, and testing any equation in thermodynamics, we can learn how to conserve heat and energy for when we actually do need it. Bibliography Kreith, Frank, and Mark S. Bohn. Yet 3 More Types of Hyphenation Errors with Numbers Yet 3 More Types of Hyphenation Errors with Numbers Yet 3 More Types of Hyphenation Errors with Numbers By Mark Nichol Confusion about the relationship between hyphens and numbers, whether they appear in numeral or spelled-out form, is rampant. Each of the following examples erroneously employs hyphens; discussion after each sentence explains the error, and a revision corrects it. 1. Because of concussions, he had played just sixty-nine games in two seasons between 2010-2012. Using a hyphen rather than an en dash in a number range is generally an error of ignorance (though some publications, with full awareness of the distinction between the two symbols, confusingly insist on doing so anyway). However, linking 2010 and 2012 in a number range with any connective symbol is redundant to preceding the numbers with between, which should be counterbalanced with an intervening and: ââ¬Å"Because of concussions, he had played just sixty-nine games in two seasons between 2010 and 2012.â⬠An alternative revision, correctly employing the en dash, is ââ¬Å"Because of concussions, he had played just sixty-nine games in the 2010ââ¬â11 and 2011ââ¬â2012 seasons.â⬠2. This goal may be achievable in a 12-to-24 month time frame. Just as it is not necessary to repeat the word for the unit of time in ââ¬Å"12 months to 24 monthsâ⬠- the first iteration of month is implicit- the word may be elided from a version of the phrase that uses hyphens. But do not link the two numbers with one or more of these symbols (or with one or more dashes); to serves the connective function, and the hyphens represent that the numbers, when combined with month, modify ââ¬Å"time frame.â⬠Form the construction (which employs a syntactical technique known as suspensive hyphenation) as shown here: ââ¬Å"This goal may be achievable in a 12- to 24-month time frame.â⬠Also, many publications spell out numbers up to one hundred, so it might be correct (or preferable to you, if no specific style is required for your content) to instead write, ââ¬Å"This goal may be achievable in a twelve- to twenty-four-month time frame.â⬠3. A similar incident occurred four-and-a-half years later. The words representing a number consisting of a mixed fraction should be hyphenated only if the phrase modifies a noun that follows it. Here, the words in the phrase should stand on their own: ââ¬Å"A similar incident occurred four and a half years later.â⬠(Compare ââ¬Å"A similar incident occurred after a four-and-a-half-year interval.â⬠) We had already covered hyphenation errors here and here. Organizational Design Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Organizational Design - Case Study Example The company gives a lot of freedom to its associates and all its employees are associates as they are stakeholders as well. There is no hierarchy and no boss and two instances have been given in which new staff have been asked to do what they felt should be done according to the opportunities and no formal work pan or functions were given. All new staff are first expected to know the working of the company and the various departments and divisions before settling down to his or her own work. The challenge and the central problems seems to be to examine how this no structure management system could be essentially tied with the profitability approach so that employees are able to provide their best performance and the company output is also improved. Among one of the challenges faced by the company was leaking of one of its popular waterproof product. The product clearly had some flaws and after a lot of research, this problem was solved and the innovativeness and flexibility of the co mpany have been responsible for overcoming difficult times.WL Gore & associates always maintained an open and unstructured corporate environment and despite having 5300 associates the company still maintains the policy of no hierarchy, yet leadership by all. Also all its plants and units have been kept small so that there is greater interaction and closely knit pattern of working. Everyone is encouraged to be innovative and although opportunities are provided no formal task are drawn to retain maximum flexibility of the work pattern.

Education in the UAE Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Education in the UAE - Research Paper Example Educational system in UAE is relatively new and transpires its basic formation in the middle of XX century. ââ¬Å"The first real efforts to establish a general educational system came in the 1960s, inspired by British model and financed directly from the treasuries of the emirsâ⬠(Kjeilen, n.p.). It is worse to mention that with the independence and consolidation of United Arab Emirates the real start of a modern system of education occurs. Today UAE educational ranges may be divided into five groups. They are the following: pre-primary education, primary, preparatory, secondary and higher education (Kjeilen, n.p.). Pre-primary education presupposes childrenââ¬â¢s attending kindergarten and includes younglings of 4-5 age groups. Primary education has its beginning at the age of six and lasts for six years (Kjeilen, n.p.). In these schools, children receive the basic infornation and study general subjects. Preparatory and secondary education follows directly after each other and last six years in general. After finishing these branches pupils obtain Secondary School Leaving Certificate and have a chance to continue education in higher educational institutions or go to some technical schools (Kjeilen, n.p.). Hence, we may argue that people in UAE have a chance to acquire appropriate knowledge for development and progress. Higher education provides through the number of educational institutions which guarantee students appropriate knowledge due to the chosen subject. ââ¬Å"The UAE University in Al Ain was established by the federal government in 1976â⬠(Rojewski, 136). This is considered to be the largest higher educational institution in the country and counts over 16à 000 students (Rojewski, 136). This university offers undergraduate and graduate levels together with degree programs for male and female representatives. The Higher Collages of Technology has founded by the government in 1988 and ââ¬Å"consist of 11 collages in six emirates, six collages for female

Apple's Strategy for its products Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Apple's Strategy for its products - Assignment Example All of these are a result of conscious effort by Appleââ¬â¢s managers, designers and team of engineers to strive for better product for its consumers. As a result, Apple has become the worldââ¬â¢s most liquid organization despite having a niche target market which is miniscule as compared to Microsoft. (Kotler and Keller, 2005) One of the fundamental parts of Appleââ¬â¢s innovation strategy is its premium pricing. Apple has never competed on price unlike other companies. Steve Jobs once said that other brands are making money because of Wal-Mart (they are cheap!), but Apple is in such a good condition because of their innovation strategy. This shows us that the prime emphasis of Apple is on innovation and costing and pricing is not as dear to them as it is to other company. As a result, it is rear that people can find substitutes for Appleââ¬â¢s product. (Martins, 2011) Hence, we can safely conclude that Apple is a company that is leveraged thanks to its great innovation policies. This tells us that any organization can do well in the market by positioning their products on some differentiating factor rather than

PESTEL Analysis of Tesco
PESTEL Analysis of Tesco Table of Contents PESTEL Analysis Political Economic Social Technology Environmental Legal Review of Tesco PLC References PESTEL Analysis Political The UK government has recently adopted a tax measure that affected Tesco. In 2011 the UK government increased the VAT rate from 17.5% to 20% with the aim to increase government revenue by à £13 billion per year (BBC, 2011, n. p.). Crossley et al. (2009, p. 3) contend that an increase in the VAT rate leads to lower customer spending. Therefore, an increase in the VAT rate negatively affected the sales revenue generated by Tesco. Sales revenue is the key source of income of the organisation and thus it holds a substantial effect on profits (Atrill, 2009, p. 33). The UK government has also proposed to adopt a fat tax with the aim to control obesity and limit the medical problems associated with it (The Guardian, 2011, n. p.). Such measure can adversely affect the sales revenue of certain products retailed by Tesco. Tesco is responding to such a threat. Indeed, in 2014 Tesco launched a brand new healthy food range (Tesco, 2014, n. p.). Economic The UK economy is showing positive signs of recovery from the financial crises. Higher economic growth rate was forecasted and the gross domestic product was estimated to be 2.7% higher than the pre-crises peak (BBC, 2014, n. p.). A growth in economy is a positive sign for Tesco because it results in a growth in the supermarket industry, which is the main industry in which Tesco operates. When there is an economic recession, which is the opposite of economic growth the rate of unemployment increases. This results in lower disposable income in the hands of the British people. Therefore, customers will decrease spending and will shift to products of a lower price (Mankiw, 2012, p. 97).Therefore, recovery from the economic recession stimulates revenue growth for Tesco. Social The number of elderly people is increasing in the UK due to the baby boom generation. In the past years there was a decrease in the birth-rate and an increase in the life expectancy of people (Independent, 2010, n. p.). This led to a shift in the tastes of individuals which should be taken into account by Tesco. For example, the adoption of online shopping by Tesco for grocery products is an approach that takes into consideration the mobility issues that elderly people face. Eastmen and Iyer (2004, p. 208) examined the perception of elderly people to the use of the Internet. These scholars found that elderly people view the Internet favourably and are willing to use it. This research also suggested that elderly people with a high income are generally more in favour to the use of the Internet and are interested to acquire products online (Eastmen and Iyer, 2004, p. 208). Therefore, Tesco has positively responded to this social change. The literature says that the customers opinion of an organisation can quickly change due to changes in the quality and price of the companys products, shopping service provided to customers and competitive moves (Kotler and Armstrong, 2010, p. 163-165). This highlights the importance that the corporate strategies should be responsive to the business environment. For example, in 2013 Tesco was accused of the horsemeat scandal. Horse-related puns were identified in Tescos burgers and the organisation was accused of not providing the good quality products claimed in their advertising campaigns (Pratley, 2013, n. p.). This scandal affected negatively the perception of customers on Tesco, which resulted in a decline in sales (Neate and Moulds, 2013, n. p.). Tesco needs to respond to such scandal, which adversely affected its image. Technology Technology is critical for the supply chain management of Tesco. Retailers like Tesco develop supply chain management systems in order to attain competitive advantages and enhance cost efficiency (Tan, 2001, p. 41). Johnson et al. (2005, pp. 132 133) posit that the most effective competitive advantages are those that are difficult to imitate by competitors. These are reflected in the core competencies of the organisation (Johnson et al., 2005, pp. 132 133). Tesco needs to be very attentive to technological advancements because these may be an opportunity for the firm. For example, mobile technology helped to improve Tescos distribution service because customers can selected their preferred wine through their mobile (Tomlinson and Evans, 2005, n. p.). The management of Tesco needs to be attentive for disruptive technologies, which occur frequently in retailing. For example, the introduction of e-grocers led to a disruptive wave in the supermarket industry (Wessel and Christensen, 2012, p. 7). Disruptive technologies result from an innovation in technology that is initially incapable of reaching the performance of the present technology. Therefore, customers value the present technology more than this new technology. However, a niche in the market arises where the disruptive technology is more convenient to customers. Therefore, such technology will appear unattractive to large well established organisations, like Tesco. On the contrary small firms will regard a disruptive technology as an opportunity to enhance the market share (CIMA, 2009, pp. 1 2). These small firms will utilise the technology in order to meet the standards of performance expected by the bulk of the market (CIMA, 2009, p. 2). Therefore, over time the disruptive technology will increase in popularity and will be more valuable to customers than the present technology (CIMA, 2009, p. 2). This will thus negatively affect organisations that have not used this technological opportunity. Environmental In the press substantial emphasis is made on global warming and the consequences associated with it. For example, the increase in average temperature is leading to a melting of the Arctic ice and it is envisaged that by 2040 there will be an ice-free summer (National Geographic, 2007, n. p.). Such facts are leading to higher emphasis on environmental sustainability. Tesco is adopting a number of measures that are aimed to protect the environment. For example, Tesco is committed to diminish the consumption of energy and utilisation of greenhouse gases (Tesco, 2014c). Management claimed that when they are doing store adjustments they are taking into account such environmental factors. For example, in Thailand the organisation has invested à £3.1 million on 49 stores in order to provide energy savings of approximately à £2 million (Tesco, 2014, c, pp. 44 45). Legal There are a number of laws that affect Tesco because the organisation markets a wide number of products and services. For example, as regards the agricultural products the UK government is reforming the common agricultural policy. The government is revising the way direct subsidies will be allocated to farmers (Gov.uk, 2014, n. p.). Such measures can lead to lower subsidies, which affect the ability of farmers to meet the agricultural standards set by Tesco and the prices agreed with organisations engaged in the supermarket industry. Winnett (2012, n. p.) contends that significant fines can be imposed on firms like Tesco if such organisations force agricultural suppliers to sell at a price which is lower than costs. Tesco is also engaged in financial services products like credit cards, savings, loans and mortgages (Tesco, 2014a, n. p.). The Financial Services Act (2012) was recently implemented in the UK (Noked, 2013, n. p.). Three new governing bodies resulted from this act, which consist of the Financial Policy Committee, the Prudential Regulatory Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority (Noked, 2013, n. p.). The Prudential Regulatory Authority adopts a micro-perspective and is responsible that organisations engaged in financial services products operate in adherence to relevant regulations (Noked, 2013, n. p.). The Prudential Regulatory Authority seeks to decrease the negative effects arising from disruption to the continuity of financial services, which may be influenced by the way financial services organisations operate or their failure (Noked, 2013, n. p.). Review of Tesco PLC Tesco is facing serious threats that are weakening the leadership in the supermarket industry that the organisation holds in the UK. Furthermore, the financial health of competitive firms is better than that of Tesco. Tesco needs to respond to these threats and utilise its main strength, which consists of a strong brand name in order to sustain its competitive advantages. Symbols of Feminine Power in Their Eyes Were Watching God Essay
Symbols of Feminine Power in Their Eyes Were Watching Godà à à à à Much evidence supports Saturday Review writer Doris Grumbach's opinion that Their Eyes Were Watching God is "the finest black novel of its time" and "one of the finest of all time" (Washington, 4). Zora Neale Hurston's text is highly regarded because of the meaning and purpose it conveys using poetic language and folkloric imagery. It is the heroic story of Janie Crawford's search for individuality, self-realization, and independence from the patriarchal forces of her time. Because the novel is mainly concerned with Janie's many relationships within a male-dominated context, it is only logical to take feminist view of Their Eyes Were Watching God. Throughout my reading of this particular novel I have identified the images of porches, trees, and the horizon as symbols of power in favor of Janie Crawford's search for a feminist identity. To support this opinion, I have chosen to utilize the feminist / reader response theories formulated by Judith Fetterley in Introduction to the Resisting Reader: A Feminist Approach to American Fiction. Fetterley's writing is useful for the study of Their Eyes Were Watching God because of her discussion of power and its relation to women. In her introduction she explains the relationship between the two classifications of gender (male versus female) and the ideology of America. According to Fetterley, "American literature is male," and "to be American is male" (991). Unfortunately, this type of philosophy has existed for many years and still exists today. In order for a change to occurs, Fetterley says that readers must "examine American fictions in light of how attitudes toward women shape their form and content" because it... ...independence. à Works Cited Donlon, Jocelyn Hazelwood. Biblical World View Essay
In the following essay on Biblical World View of, Business Administration, with the foundational Christian belief that man was created in the image of God. There will be two examples in this essay that will explain this view. In the first example, I will be going over leadership and how important it is as a Christian to remember your foundational belief that we are created in the image of God. The second example, I will be discussing the importance of honesty for Christians, since we are created in the image of God.ââ¬Å"Immediately following each day of creation God saw that it was good, but after the creation of man, God saw that it was very goodâ⬠. (Online excerpt, Original Creation of man in the image of god, 2013)Being created in the image of God does not just refer to physical appearance; it also refers to the total essence of God. Example 1 In this example, I will be going over leadership and the Christian foundation that we were created in the image of God.From the very beginning of our creation as humans, we were give leadership over all his creation. With leadership, in any aspect, you will possess tremendous responsibility, and power over others, and their lives. King David stated in Psalm 139 ââ¬Å"Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-How well we know it. â⬠(Etzel and Gutierrez, Praxis Beyond Theory, 2012, p 61) AS Christians, one knows, without a doubt, that we are created in his image. Therefore, we have to always keep in that mindset. The Bible says ââ¬Å"if it is teaching, let him encourage; If it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; If it is leadership, let him govern diligently; If it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Menââ¬â¢s Study Bible, NIV, Romans 12:8, 1997) I am currently enrolled for a BS in Business administration with a major in Project management. So needless to say I will be in charge the entire project at hand. This means, in every aspe ct I will be in charge of financing, labor, time & material, board meetings, and deadlines; I could keep going, but I am sure you got the idea. That is a lot of responsibility. With this position sin exists around every corner, just to name a few, Stealing, cheating, and deceiving people. This is why one should always remember, we are created in his image. Jesus Christ was a great leader, to whom followers looked up to for guidance, and answers. When I was a kid my grandmother always would say ââ¬Å"What would Jesus do? Still to this day I use that very same question. With all the deceitfulness, and cheating that corrupts the business world, one must always remember in leadership people under you look to you for answers and guidance. You reflect who you are, no one else. So why not reflect the one who created you in his own image. Always ask yourself what would Jesus do? Example 2 In this example I will be going over how honesty in my chosen field of study relates to how we are creat ed in the image of God. Again the image of God is far more than the physical appearance. ââ¬Å"Jesus is said to perfectly represent God the fatherâ⬠. (Etzel and Gutierrez, Praxis Beyond Theory, 2012, p 62) Jesus himself stated this in John 10:30. The Bible says Jesus was sin less and Jesus and God are one.So we can safely say we are the image of God and Jesus. Jesus threw his existence was humble, forgiving, and honest. So in Theory, if we are anything other than his likeness, then we could say, we would be the opposite of them, and that would be sinning. As Christians we strive not to sin, and remain in his image. In Project Management, I will be doing an enormous amount of managing of a lot of different people, funds, and business obligations. So with that being said, perception of how people perceive me and my demeanor will represent how I will be treated by fellow coworkers.ââ¬Å"Keep your conduct among the gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evil d oers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitationâ⬠. (1 Peter 2:12) King David was with himself and God and ultimately committed adultery and in the end murder. In my chosen field many people will look to me for advice and answers. I much rather be looked at by the people I will be leading as someone who walked with Jesus, instead of an Evildoer. ConclusionSince I have started my journey at Liberty University, I have learned a lot of things that will help me obtain a closer relationship with God. Upon completion of my studies, and once in the work field, my goal will to strive to walk in Gods footsteps. Perception on how people will perceive me will make or break me in this field. I cannot think of anyone else, but God, to be in the likeness of. Sin will be around every corner, all I can do is, look to my Bible, pray, and keep asking myself ââ¬Å"What would Jesus do? ââ¬

Exploring The Concept Of Empowerment Social Work Essay Essay Example
Exploring The Concept Of Empowerment Social Work Essay Essay Example Exploring The Concept Of Empowerment Social Work Essay Essay Exploring The Concept Of Empowerment Social Work Essay Essay Authorization can be defined in general as the capacity of persons, groups and/or communities gain control of their fortunes and achieve their ain ends, thereby being able to work towards assisting themselves and others to maximize the quality of their lives. In wellness and societal attention empowerment means patients, carers and service users exerting pick and taking control of their lives. It is non that one is empowered agencies he or she become all powerful like God. Even if we are empowered still we have restriction. Actual significance of authorization is that one feels that he or she able and feels powerful plenty in certain state of affairss to take portion in determination devising. I besides will explicate how political relations played a portion in disempowering adult females in wellness and societal attention services. It is a greatest challenge in wellness and societal attention to accomplish advancement with the authorization of carers and people who receive services. Beginnings of 20th century adult females were disempowered because of political relations played a portion. Emancipation is a normally used word in other western European states to mention to what in the UK mean by authorization. The word emancipation has is utile because it has overtones of the battle for ballots for adult females in Britain at the beginning of the 20th century, so it reminds us that authorization in the wellness and societal services has a political facet. When carers and people who use services experience being disempowered and excluded, this is a signifier of political disenfranchisement. In other words, it is as though they have no ballot and are non treated as full members of society. In contrast, when people become empowered, they can exert picks and have the possibility of maximizing their possible and living full and active lives. There is a tenseness between enabling people to take control of their lives and recognizing that workers may necessitate to step in and take control sometimes, in order to protect other people. This applies to both authorization and protagonism. Authorization for people with larning disablements is the procedure by which they develop increased accomplishments to take control of their lives. This will assist them accomplish ends and aspirations, maximizing their quality of life. A cardinal characteristic in authorising people is giving them a voice and actively listening to what they have to state. Empowerment is, hence, closely linked to the construct of protagonism. Authorization in larning disablement can be described as a societal procedure, whereby people who are considered as belonging to a stigmatised societal group can be assisted to develop increased accomplishments to take control of their lives. This increased control will assist them to accomplish their ends and aspirations and therefore potentially maximize the quality of their lives. The construct has connexions with assertiveness and independency and is clearly linked to the assorted signifiers of protagonism. When sing the current clime it is slightly an indictment on our times that the Government sees the demand to call the White Paper sing its vision for larning disablement services as Valuing People . The rubric entirely reciprocally suggests that as a society we are not valuing people . The content presents the grounds on degrees of exclusion, disempowerment and deficiency of valued societal functions confronting those with a learning disablement and how services should be planned to turn to this. ( A similar Scottish Executive Review of Learning Disability has the rubric The Same As You . ) For the person with a learning disablement, the subjective experience of authorization is about rights, pick and control which can take them to a more independent life style. For the professional, it is about anti-oppressive pattern, equilibrating rights and duties and back uping pick and empowerment whilst keeping safe and ethical pattern. Education is frequently seen as the chief engine of authorization, equality and rights of entree. Therefore, as a group, people with a learning disablement can be at a peculiar disadvantage. They may hold to be enabled and supported to possibly get the better of societal obstructions and can be dependent on others to do of import information accessible to them, help them with protagonism and assist safeguard their rights. A cardinal characteristic in authorising persons is giving them a voice and so listening actively to what they have got to state. Person Centred Planning with its focal point on puting the person at the Centre of the procedure and utilizing techniques to obtain meaningful engagement can be a major part to happening out what people have got to state. Empowerment will convey along with it rights and duties plus besides possible hazards for people. It is frequently the fright of physical hazard which can suppress empowerment procedures for people who see themselves as responsible for vulnerable people. They may fear a blasted civilization if things go incorrect. Surprisingly, every bit late as 1998, the Social Services Inspectorate noted there were no systematic attacks for hazard appraisal and direction in the field of larning disablement. The Foundation for People with a Learning Disability set out to place good pattern in how to accommodate the tenseness between guaranting the safety of an person with a learning disablement and authorising them to bask a full life in the community. A study was produced called Empowerment and Protection ( Alaszewski et al, 1999 ) which suggested that administrations needed to develop hazard policies which embrace both protection and empowerment issues at the same point. The definition of hazard should look at effects and chance. Procedures should besides include, from the start, the wants and demands of the individual who has the acquisition disablement and affect them throughout, including the determination devising phase. Such remarks about administrations developing appropriate hazard schemes show that authorization is non at that place merely as a construct for front line staff, but should perforate the strategic planning degrees. Valuing People provinces ( Section 4.27 ) that people with a learning disablement should be consulted for their positions on services and these positions utilised at a corporate planning degree. In Mrs Ali instance she is empowered by Muslim spiritual religion to take of her bed-bound hubby although in contrast her attention taker Jean believes that Mrs Ali should be empowered. This indicates faith besides empower some people to take attention vulnerable people.

Globalization may change the nature and behavior of companies that engage in large-scale international coordination, which in tu - Essay Example Offshoring is the process of establishing business units in overseas countries. It helps companies to exploit the natural resources and cheap labour available in other countries. For example, global organizations are currently competing each other for establishing business units in China and India like cheap labour oriented countries. It should be noted that cost cutting is necessary for international companies to stay competitive in international market. Since American and European countries are facing severe manpower shortage, companies in these countries forced to establish business units or manufacturing units in cheap labour oriented countries. Pepsi, Microsoft, Apple Inc. Dell, Sony, Samsung etc are some of the prominent organizations which have already established manufacturing or business units in China. It is impossible for an American company to use only American workforce in their business units in China. Same way, it is impossible for a Chinese company to operate successf ully in India or Europe with the help of Chinese workforce alone. Since locals have better knowledge about domestic market, it is necessary for international companies to employ locals so that the company can exploit the market potentials well. Even though offshoring business helps companies to increase their competitive power, it brings certain challenges also. Management of diverse workforce is one of the prominent challenges facing by international companies while operating cross culturally. This paper analyses the HR policy changes that brought by globalization in the nature and behaviour of companies that engage in large-scale international coordination. 2.0 Globalization and cross cultural business Outsourcing and offshoring are some of the revolutionary business strategies introduced by globalization. As part of outsourcing and offshoring, business travels from one country to another country. In other words, cross cultural business is increasing day by day because of globaliz ation. It would be difficult for international companies to limit their attention in one country alone, when many other countries offer huge opportunities. Majority of the international companies are already saturated in their domestic soil and they need opportunities in overseas market to grow further. For example, Starbucks is an American company which has coffee shops virtually in every corner of America. In other words, it would be almost impossible for Starbucks to formulate its expansion strategies based on opportunities in America alone. Globalization has offered many opportunities to Starbucks like companies in overseas countries. In fact countries are currently competing each other, in attracting foreign direct investments. In short, the global climate for international business is extremely good at present and no major companies can stay away from the opportunities offered by other countries. According to Ivancevich (2006, p.5), ââ¬Å"human resource management is action o riented, people oriented, globally oriented and future orientedâ⬠. It is necessary for international organizations to integrate HRM issues into their strategic plans (Beardwell, & Claydon, 2007). It would be impossible for modern organizations to work with a single cultural workforce in a heavily globalized business world.

The View On The Future Life Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The View On The Future Life - Essay Example Now if I talk from the realistic perspective, I see my self at a stable position after ten years. It is because currently I am a high school student and I have plans to study further until I become a graduate. If I continue my studies, I will be able to earn a graduate degree, which will be one of my greatest achievements. Even being a high school student, I have no fantasies in my mind. Being a realistic person, I see myself doing a reasonable job in a company after getting my graduate degree. It is because every person does some sort of job after completing the education which is a realistic approach towards life. Therefore, I am hoping for the best but with that, I am also ready for the worst because, in reality, nothing is certain about the future of any person. There is a huge difference between the romantic and realistic approaches towards life. The romantic approach means a dreamy, idealistic, or impractical approach towards life. Romanticism makes a person idealistic, which is of very less importance in the real life. Romanticism generates a sense of fantasy in the mind of a person that leaves behind the importance of a practical and realistic life. If we talk about realistic approach, we can say that realistic approach is a sensible and rational approach towards life. Realism generates the sense of practicality in life. Realistic approach definitely leads a person towards success because it incorporates practical and fact-based thinking regarding different matters of life.

Case study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 38
Case Study Example The budget the manager intends to submit for the financial year is $4,900,000 which exceeds the expected expense by $700,000. Submitting a budget higher than the expected cost to be incurred is a misuse of the power and authority vested in the management position. This is taking advantage of the position to mismanage public funds which is not ethical at all. Public officers are expected to conduct themselves in an ethical manner encouraging transparency in carrying out their duties. Submitting of a budget higher than the expected costs equals betrayal of the public trust in the role of the management in the cityââ¬â¢s waste management. Furthermore, submitting a higher budget will strain the cityââ¬â¢s finances especially with the reduction in tax collections. As a result, the city may not have enough funds to process waste in the near future. Inadequate fund in the future will mean that not all the waste is processed thus causing pollution to the environment. Therefore, submitting a higher budget will seem good in the short run to manage the department but with long term effects that may paralyze the operations of the department. Though the manager expects a cut on the budget by 10%, this does not justify the increase in the budget from $4,200,000 to $4,900,000. That is an increase of $700,000 which is way above the expected increase. Given that the total cost of the department will amount to $4200000, reducing it by 10% will amount to reduction of: The manager does not justify for the excess amount of $280,000 after the expected reduction of 10% by the city controller. Lack of accountability for this amount creates loopholes for corruption. By having submitted a higher budget, the department will rarely take back any excess amount since the manager does not want to disclose their actions. This results in misuse of public funds. Moreover, the expectation of increased cost of labor and the amount of waste is not enough reason also for the inflation of the budget

Next, list one that you heard that had a big logical error in it, but which you still thought was important. In the IT field, thre is not only a lot of opportunities there, from web design, to business systems and technology. There is also a huge demand in that field. The pay range also starts off at a pretty good level. One ofthe arguments I heard is that since I would start at an entry level position, there is a good possibility that I would not get the hours that I am looking for. Were there any errors in truth with that argument? Describe what those errors were, and what made them errors. There were some errors in that truth. There might not be such a high demand in my area that I live in. If I were to live in a very desolate area with little businesses, there might not be as much opportunity as others may have. What about errors of validity? Remember, these are errors in reasoning ââ¬â and theyre a little harder to understand! Tell me if there are any errors of validity in this argument. I didnt think that there were really any errors in the validity of the argument, however, there are some things that might not be considered valid by some. For instance, this field might not be for everyone. Some people might find some enjoyment in it, while others might not like it at all. Revise the argument so that it removes all errors. Restate it in a way that is logically sound. The field can be very promising, allowing you to have the opportunity to make good money. Also, most of the time, there are a high demand for employment, but it also depends on where you are looking for work. Take a look at all of what the job entails, because it might be for you, even though I enjoy it. Take a little more time on this one. What it was that led you to choose this degree concentration. Describe both about how you evaluated the arguments and also about what you valued most. I think that the most important point made in these arguments is which field I would enjoy the most. If I have a passion for technological services, then this is probably a good field for me. Also, if the pay scale is accurate, that is a great start at entry level.

Ghost Story of Haunted Row House: Philadelphia Essay -- Ghost Stories
Haunted Row House: Philadelphia The particular story I collected takes place in Philadelphia, where ghost stories are plentiful. Philadelphia is an old city with a rich cultural heritage, and our founding fathers made history in the place that was once our nationââ¬â¢s capital (Eidmann). Many believe that their spirits and spirits of those from colonial times still lurk around. It is easy to feel like spirits are around when in a place where many people have lived and died before, and in a place that is filled with old buildings and landmarks. All of these factors make this city a perfect place for a ghost story. This story was told to me by a close friend, in my dorm room on a cold rainy day in April. My friend is a female of Columbian descent, 20 years old, who lives off campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. She is a sophomore and is currently studying journalism at Maryland. She heard this story about a year ago while she was with her mom, and it was told to them by a co-worker of her motherââ¬â¢s at a national magazine. This story was collected by tape recorder, which was held by the teller. So this past year I heard a ghost story from my momââ¬â¢s coworker and friend. Her daughter recently purchased an old row house in Philadelphia. She lives there with her husband and they have a daughter, who was about two years old. They started to notice REALLY [eyes get large] weird things happening around the house, it was really eerie and started to make them nervous. Their daughter has a playroom in the attic, and she used to say, actually, she still says that there is somebody up there. She describes him as an African American male--well she says itââ¬â¢s a ââ¬Å"Black manâ⬠--and she says he sits there and watches her play. When she told her parents... ...just another person who wants to be friends and not think the ghost will hurt them or that there is anything scary about it. The tale capitalizes on the fact that an adult would be uneasy thinking that a child can play with a ghost without thinking twice, and even more uneasy that a child can see what they cannot, since adults are supposed to be wiser and more able to explain things. The imagination of a child, which can create some astonishing things, is a scary entity. Death of Salesman by Arthur Miller Essay -- Death Salesman Arthur Mill
Death of Salesman by Arthur Miller The Requiem seems to simply conclude the play at the funeral and let us see the other character's view of events with some retrospect. However, with closer scrutiny, we see that old issues and resentments are still very prevalent. The Requiem can be split into two halves. The first half sees Charley, Biff, Linda and Happy over Willy's grave. Each character is unique in their perspective at this point, reflecting Willy's own change of perspective towards the end of play and reminding us of several themes in the text. Happy still clings to the memory of Willy Loman as the successful salesman and general good man. Indeed, he holds this view with some ferocity. He tries to stop Biff being negative about his father (the stage directions include 'almost ready to fight Biff infuriated') and his last words are ones of defiance: 'I'm gonna show you and everybody else that Willy Loman did not die in vein this is where I'm gonna win it for him' This seems rather absurd to the reader as it is clear now that the American Dream for the Loman family is just that- a dream. The spectacular failure of his father and the collapse of the family show that the dogmatic pursuit of success is fruitless and even dangerous. 'Happy' is a very apt name for the son who tries to be happy and show a brave face even when things have collapsed around him. Other examples of this include Happy rallying Biff both when they talk about setting up business together and when Happy tries to make Biff attract women at the restaurant in Scene 2. Happy also represents the side of Willy that he was most used to (Happy, unlike Biff, lived with Willy day to day and so was more indoctrinated to the lies and... ...wife. Instead of seeing the inevitable, as Charley does, or being somehow released like Biff, she can only see things in terms of money and time, like Willy used to obsess over- 'He even finished with the dentist'. The second half of the Requiem is dedicated to Linda. It is quite hard to understand. She says that she 'can't cry' but then seconds later she is 'sobbing more fully'. Why is this? Maybe telling her true feelings to Willy instead of suppressing them like when he was alive releases her, but she keeps repeating 'we're free'. As she whispers this she seems to be on a higher plane and connecting with Willy. This, however, is open to interpretation and all we can safely say is that the Requiem releases the pressure that was mounting in the Loman household in possibly the only way it could; with the realisation of the failure of the American Dream.

Introduction à à à à The objectives that have been stated throughout the research was to determine the reasons for gratitude and the motivation that leads one to involve it in their lifestyle.à A publication by Health Psychology was used to determine the scale of dispositional optimism. The efforts that are needed in society can be developed by having the conscious mindset that is conducive to the philanthropic contribution.à Those that seek the emotional effect that it has on their life is directly linked to the gratitude that they exhort in common situations. The recent efforts to examine the problems that are linked to the lack of social awareness or concerns that are a direct correlation to the efforts of any individual. à à à à The triangulation of the tendencies that are to be a desired behavior in society and its resulting actions.à The surveys that was conducted in 1985, pertained to lifeââ¬â¢s orientation of how it was used to determine the optimism and expectancy.(SWLS; Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985) Questionnaire was regularlyà handed out in efforts to ascertain the need of self consciousness.à The health concerns that related to the survey were between the related theories and the orientation of the scale. The different tests have been previously designed by other psychologists.à The most important test was the designed by Saucer.à It is used to determine the psychological scale known as the Big 5. It categorizes the personality types such as extrovert or introverts and their interactions.à This enabled the team of Belk and Richin to use their materialism tests to determine the scale.à The Belk version is used to measure the pro-sociality and the levels of gratitude.à à It assists in determining the life satisfaction, envy, perspective- taking, and spiritual transcendence. à à à à Similar in design; however, the Richin material test is used calculate the success and happiness.à McCollogh published an article in 2001 that proposed several directions for future research on gratitude that included psychometrics.à The effect of gratitude has motivated the returning of the act.à It presented several issues that had to be answered.à Others that contributed to the research were P.C. Ellsworht and C.A. Smith.à The article- Shades of Joy: Patterns of Appraisal- differentiate pleasant emotions shared in their research that the adjective of loving, grateful, friendly, and admirer had a structure that was a trifold cluster of the satisfaction of the senses. à à à à The remaining data that had to be contributed was primarily used to support the research that already been completed.à Butlerââ¬â¢s research, 3 studies in 4 years, were all pertaining to the structural equation stated that the one factor solution for the six retaining items were assessed.à It was used to determine the statistics of processing that information in a standardized square. Increasing the likelihood of finding the adequate parameters.à Those various tests were designed to determine the accurate measurement.à The variable tests that are used to compile the data. Thus the information that has been processed through those test is accurate enough to determine the weaknesses. à à à à The concerning that are the three psychological domains are : 1) emotional as the primary concern is the well beingà 2)social interactionà à 3)spirituality and religion , all of these have a direct influence into the development of gratitude.à (McCullough et al., 4) à à à à Those that involve themselves have a mentality more empathetic, forgiving, helpful, and supportive.à All those characteristics are trademarks of a productive individual or a conducive environment.à The emotions that one feels is often due to the requirement of those that the individual surrounds themselves.à The people that are noticed by their gaps in their emotional well being are those that need to be aware of their social and spiritual priorities.à According Emmons and Tsung, the trait that are classified by the Big Five (John, Donahue, & Kentle, 1991) can be categorized as an individual that is grateful as more extraverted, more agreeable, and less neurotic. à à à à The gratefulness as the generic term is applied to many aspects of the mind.à Emotions, disposition, and attributes of an individual all contribute to the personââ¬â¢s willingness or non-conscious efforts in what is considered volunteer work.à The compassion that is conducive to many of the situations that are needed for others to appreciate what is accomplished.à The premise or higher ideology is considered spiritual. Methods à à à à à à à à à Those that were involved in developing the study were following the guidelines that are designed to keep the data resources non bias. The participants were 91 students, 23 male (25.3%), 68 female (74.7%) enrolled in Research Method in Psychology class at the California State University, Fullerton. The demographics were reflective of the populous and the involvement was voluntary. These participants range from 19 years old to 46 years old. The demographics are categorized in the Table 1.à The second study involved 1228 adult volunteers. The majority were women and almost 90% were Caucasian. All of these participants were involved with spirituality and health. à à à à à To conduct this research participants were ask to complete a questionnaire, which was used to determine demographics and how it affected the tests, PANAS (Watson, Clark, Tellegen), Subjective Happiness Scale (Lyubomirsky, Lepper), Satisfaction with Life Scale (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, Griffin), Gratitude questionnaire (McCullough, Emmons), Tendency to Forgive Scale (Brown), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg), Life Orientation Test (Scheier), Lubben Social Network Scale (Lubben) and Big Five Inventory Scale (John, Donahue, Kentle). Each participant received a questionnaire that had a description of the study and instructions. The participants were asked to provide some cursory information indicating their gender, age, level of education, and language preference. The PANAS was designed so that the individuals words would describe their different feelings and emotions. The participants were asked to indicate to what extent they have felt each feeling or emotion listed in the past two weeks at the time of the survey. A scale of 1-5 (very slightly or not at all, a little, moderately, quite a bit, extremely) was used to record their answers. The Subjective Happinessà and Satisfaction Life Scale consists of questions to rate how happy the participants perceive themselves to be on a sliding scale.à à The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) is a measure of lifeââ¬â¢s satisfactions and how they developed by Ed Diener and colleagues (Diener, Emmons, Larsen & Griffin, 1985). Life satisfaction is one factor that is more of a general construct than a subject that pertains to well being. Theory and research from fields outside of rehabilitation have suggested that subjective well being has at least three components, positive affective appraisal, negative affective appraisal, and life satisfaction. Life satisfaction is distinguished from affective appraisal in that it is more cognitively than emotionally driven. Life satisfaction can be assessed specific to a particular domain of life or globally. The SWLS is a global measure of life satisfaction (Corrigan, 2000). The Life Orientation Test rates how optimistic or pessimistic the participants are in the Lubben social networking which consists of similarly designed questions that involved all aspects of the individuals life. The importance of social ties in the lives of older people has becoming increasingly recognized as strong associations have been consistently found between social support networks for physical and mental health. The Big Five inventory consists of a number of characteristics that may or may not apply to participants. (McCullough et al, 5) The participants were asked to rate the applicability of each characteristic to themselves in a scale of 1-5.à The factors are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (OCEAN) or from the Five Factor Model (FFM). This consists of the following 5 factors: urgency, agreeableness, dependability, emotional stability, and culture. Each factor consists of a number of more specific traits. For example, extraversion includes such related qualities as sociability, excitement seeking, and positive emotions. à à à à Questionnaires were handed out to all participants in the classroom of research method in psychology at the California State University, Fullerton. Participants were given instructions as a group and were told that participation in this study would be anonymous. It was also stated that they may choose to participate and could withdraw at anytime. The whole session took about 15-30 minutes. Participants were provided informed consent and debriefing. à à à à This effort was similar to previous efforts to compile a thorough report that supported the thesis of generosity and the appreciative nature.à The information compiled and addressed several important fundamental aspects of life. à à à The three studies showed that all indications of a grateful disposition is social desirable.à The data that was used contained self reports examined and how it ranked.à Next, the disposition was calculated from lifeââ¬â¢s satisfaction of vitality, happiness, hope, and optimism. à The response were then empirically calculated.à Third step was determining the lower order traits that contained the emotions pertaining to well being, willingness, and spirituality aspects that pertain to life and the coping mechanisms that can disable the ability to consciously be thankful and helpful.à The last steps involved bringing the personality traits that are determined by the Big Five and the common association that are in sync or are agreeable. Results à à à à The results of previous efforts and the most recent data provided support the thesis. The measures of affectivity and life satisfaction in all areas that were tested are conducted to determine the next course of action for testing and retesting as for accuracy.à The information that is issued and used to understand the importance of life satisfactions, vitality, subjective happiness, optimism, and hope. It is to understand these simple concepts that the affectivity and life satisfaction was determined with positive and negative affects that would influence the psychological symptoms.à This includes the variable that resulted in understanding prosociality.à The disposition with empathy and social desirability were used to validate the believe that the spirituality and religiousness would have supported any concept of what and why people are appreciative. à à à à The results of the first study that involved the information gathered from the Big Five assessment and variable ranking scale of a certain ââ¬Å"ideaâ⬠or ideal. The analysis that was used to calculate the self report and the measure of affectivity and life situation with the greatest weight.à This was closely supported by the remaining questions and their assessment as it was placed through the structural equation model.à The statistical equation determined the validity of each section as it is compared.
